Welcome to the official landing page for the WUSB Sports Department. Here you will find the latest Stony Brook Seawolves game broadcast schedules and anything else we think you’ll find interesting as WUSB covers both Stony Brook and the rest of the world of sports.
Let’s get started with what you came for. When are we on?
For starters, we host the longest-running sports call-in program on Long Island and one of the longest-running anywhere. The Sports Section has been in the Sunday 10 pm slot since 1981, going to two hours in 1992. It’s been the place to go for insights on Stony Brook and other sports you can’t find anywhere else. We do things a little differently like the rest of WUSB, and we’re damn proud of it!
But that’s far from the only thing we do. We are also the longtime home of Stony Brook Patriots and Seawolves athletics, carrying Stony Brook games since our FM transmitter first signed on in 1977 and long before that too. Most importantly, we’ve been there from the very first Division I men’s lacrosse broadcast in 1989 and the premiere men’s basketball contest vs. St. John’s in 1999. We’ve covered it all, and continue to do so.
See below for our latest schedule. Please note that any broadcast schedule is a living thing, which means it’s subject to change depending on conflicts, facilities, weather, staffing, etc. Baseball might get rained out, lacrosse may be bumped for basketball, lightning might stall a football game, but this schedule is updated constantly, so this will remain the place to go for the latest information. We even have a dedicated link for it in the menu above.
Times and venues for America East tournaments are determined from final standings. Top seeds host for women’s basketball, men’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse, baseball and softball. Progress through tournaments is conditional upon winning, of course. Lacrosse and basketball are single elimination, baseball and softball are double elimination.
The 2021-22 academic year’s sports broadcasts will begin with football on Thursday, September 2 at 5:45 PM. Additional broadcasts will be posted once schedules are approved. Meanwhile, enjoy your summer and be sure to follow the latest Seawolves news and interviews on the Sports Section Sunday nights at 10 pm!
